Derrick Rose Game Winner Vs Cavs Funny

It's weird to say that Derrick Rose is a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

After all, it was just six years ago when Rose became the youngest MVP in NBA history with the Chicago Bulls and guided them to the No. 1 seed in the East.

The then-22-year-old Rose looked destined for countless battles with LeBron James and the Miami Heat for Eastern Conference supremacy.

But we all know what tragically happened in the 2012 playoffs.

Rose tore his left ACL in Game 1 of the first-round against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Bulls lost the series in six games and Rose missed the entire following season.

James won back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013 with the Heat, while Rose was forced to sit and watch his dream of bringing a championship back home to Chicago drift further and further away.

The Bulls eventually gave up on Rose, trading him to the New York Knicks after the 2015-16 season.

Rose had a tumultuous year in the Big Apple, but he did multiple good things on the offensive end that make him an exciting fit next to LeBron and company.

As the third option in a flawed offensive system, Rose averaged 18.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game on 47.1 percent shooting from the field with the Knicks. He shot a career-high 87.4 percent from the free throw line too.

Rose's scoring average of 18.0 was his highest since he suffered the ACL injury. One facet of Rose's game league scouts continue to marvel at is his elite ability to get to the rim at will and finish in heavy traffic.

After missing nearly two years of basketball -- sat out 2012 season (ACL), played 10 games in 2013 (right meniscus) -- Rose appears to have regained his touch near the basket. He shot 55.7 percent on shots at the rim with New York and dazzled fans all season with acrobatic layups.

Rose ranked fourth in the NBA in points off of drives — scoring 8.2 a game.

Never labeled as an efficient scorer or shooter, Rose improved his true shooting percentage month by month.

Although he was clearly uncomfortable with the way the Knicks were r unning the triangle offense by making him sit in the corner, Rose did his best to adjust on the fly.

Two flaws in Rose's game, though, continue to be his lack of three-point shooting and off-ball movement.

Rose only attempted 60 threes all year with New York, connecting on 13. That will need to change with the Cavs. Rose is a decent rhythm shooter from beyond the arc once he gets his legs into his jumper, and the corner three is a shot he should be perfecting since LeBron will attract so much attention on his drives.

In New York, Rose was on the floor with Carmelo Anthony a lot. History has shown us that the ball doesn't move side to side when Anthony is the focal point on offense.

Because of the lack of ball movement the Knicks had, Rose and many of his teammates got lost in watching Anthony hold the ball instead of moving around and cutting to create better floor balance.

In Cleveland, Rose will have ample opportunities for backdoor cuts and he needs to take advantage of them.

Rose can't get caught ball-watching LeBron, who will undoubtedly have a high usage rate and the ball in his hands in the 4th quarter.

Luckily for Rose, James is one of the most gifted passers the game has ever seen and he always makes his teammates better.

While Rose is a poor shooter from distance, he's nearly automatic from the mid-range. Defenders can't "leave him" when he doesn't have the ball like some pundits claim.

This past season, there were 16 players who averaged at least 18 points per game on better than 47 percent shooting from the field. Not only is Rose on the list, but he was the only player to score 18 a night while taking less than one three per game.

Rose has had a total of four knee surgeries now, two on each knee. The latest one came in April, when he had a scope performed on his left knee to repair meniscus damage.

In the 13 games he played in March before going down with the injury, Rose averaged 19.8 points a contest and shot 51 percent from the field. He tallied 57 assists to only 23 turnovers as well, playing his best basketball of the year.

The good news for Rose and Cavs fans is that the former MVP walked in and out of his surgical operation in April and has been on the court working diligently.

New Cavs general managerKoby Altman said Rose's "body looks great" when he talked about Cleveland's newest point guard at his introductory press conference.

James and Rose even worked out together in Las Vegas a few weeks ago, as the two stars have started to develop a rapport with one another.

One thing is likely certain: No team is going to want to see LeBron and Rose in transition together.

We all know James is a freight train in the open court, and even after all the knee injuries, Rose has demonstrated that he still has the innate skill to be a one man fast break.

In the half court, it's going to be fun seeing what type of dribble handoff plays Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue draws up involving James and Rose.

When either Rose or LeBron is freed up by the pick to go downhill, the rest of the floor will open up for the Cavs' shooters to do what they're paid to do: knock down shots.

One thing LeBron should urge Rose to do more of in Cleveland is use his size in the post instead of always relying on speed.

Rose can get by any defender when he pleases, but it requires more torque and puts stress on his knees and joints. At 6-foot-3 and with a strong upper body frame, Rose can take some of these smaller guards into the paint and get easy baskets that way instead.

Meanwhile, Kevin Love and Rose already have a previous relationship, as they possess the same trainer and often work out together in the summers.

You can already imagine how deadly Rose and Love will be in the pick-and-roll/pop game.

Stretch forwards such as Love are more useful and productive when they have a guy who can collapse the defense at every turn and draw defenders away from the perimeter.

Knicks big man Kristaps Porzingis benefited from Rose's penetration all year in New York.

For example, Porzingis shot 37.9 percent from 25-29 feet when Rose was on the floor. That clip dropped to a woeful 25.4 percent when Rose went to the bench.

Defensively, Rose has to show more effort with the Cavs in fighting through screens and closing out on shooters. Rose is a sound on-ball defender. Very rarely will he let an opposing player score on him with ease.

The Knicks' defensive schemes in regards to pick-and-roll coverages put their point guards in terrible spots last year, which made Rose look like a putrid defender when he really isn't that bad.

Having a defensive pest likeTristan Thompson as his backup in the pick-and-roll sets will hide and make up for some of Rose's mistakes on defense.

In the right system, Rose has shown he can be engaged on that end. Just ask Tom Thibodeau.

A league executive told theNew York Daily News in March, "In a solid organization, Derrick Rose will blossom. I know that's true of a lot of players, but especially with Derrick."

Until he got to New York, Rose has been a winner his entire basketball life, dating all the way back to his legendary AAU days.

Rose is back in a winning environment now and surrounded by like-mindedindividuals, something his agent B.J. Armstrong said was important for the three-time All-Star.

Cleveland is the perfect place for Rose to increase his value around the league and compete for the one thing missing on his résumé -- an NBA championship.

The Cavs are currently dealing with the Kyrie Irving saga. Irving's trade demand is the main reason Rose is on the roster, and he reportedly discussed both a starting and bench role with Cleveland's brass during their free agent meeting.
